I can hear her reading what she wrote as I have heard her read it to me at a time before now. I remember waiting with her for those kitchen cabinets. It was the night O.J. got chased down in hid Bronco. we watched the news on a portable TV that someone had brought with them. it was fun, like waiting in line all night for concert tickets. my grandmother was ALWAYS there for me. she kept me busy working two jobs while helping me to stop abusing myself with addictive drugs and behavior. I could talk to my grandmother about absolutely anything with no fear of being judged, and she could give me advise, whether I took it or not without expectation. when my wife got pregnant with my daughter, I told her by asking her "how would you like to be a great grandmother?" to which she responded "I thought I was already a GREAT grandmother", and I couldn't argue because she was. I love my grandmother very much and I will miss her more than most

Our relationship was brief and limited, but one word definitely describes it.... comfortable. Renee, I think your mom was gifted in that department. When I met her, I was immediately surrounded by "warm fuzzies". She told me how happy she was that I was your friend, and what could make one feel more comfortable than that? You had better keep making her pickles! I saved my jar and shared it at the Cheney family Thanksgiving feast to rounds of "mmm... mmm... good!" You now have a pickle making reputation to uphold!
