Malcolm Dawson
Age 79, of Montville Twp., died on Monday, Nov. 29, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Epsom, England to Alexander and Irene Dawson, on April 27, 1942, and immigrated with his family to the United States at the age of 12. On October 30, 1965, he married Kathleen Hummel in Chardon, OH. Malcolm then served in the US Army. He was a land title examiner in Northeast Ohio for over 50 years.
Malcolm was a member of the Leroy Community Chapel in Leroy, where he and his wife taught Sunday School for over 20 years. He was an avid photographer with his family as his primary focus. He won many ribbons with pictures he entered in the Geauga County Fair. He enjoyed landscaping and working in his yard and floral gardens. He was also a fan of classic and sports cars and enjoyed many a summer evening ride in his Miata convertible. Above all, he had an unwavering devotion to God, wife, and family.
Survivors include Kathleen, his wife of 56 years; daughter Melanie (Joseph) Lausin of Thompson, OH; sons, Chris (Andrea) Dawson of Chardon, OH and Jonathan (Hollie) Dawson of Jefferson, OH: 8 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 1 foster-granddaughter; sisters Sandra Dawson of Castle Rock, WA, Jennifer Kempner of Spokane, WA, and Susan (Tom) Allen of Jefferson, OH, and a brother, Ian (Maureen) Dawson of Beaverton, OR.
Funeral Services will be held at the Leroy Community Chapel, 12920 Painesville Warren Rd., Leroy, OH 44077, on Monday, December 6, at 10 AM. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Sunday from 3-6 PM. Burial will take place at Chardon Municipal Cemetery following the funeral service on Monday. Donations are suggested to the Chapel’s Mission Fund.
