Leonard D. Glover, age 85, of Aquilla Village, passed peacefully in his sleep on April 30, 2022, at Heather Hill Care Communities in Munson Twp. He was born December 8, 1936, in Alvy, West Virginia to Leonard and Oma (nee: Gaines) Glover. He married Shirley Barnhart on July 3, 1958, in Pleasants County, W.V. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2005.
Mr. Glover worked for 46 years at Chardon Rubber. He also worked as a part-time police officer at different times for the Middlefield Police Dept, Chardon Police Dept. and as a part-time deputy for the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office. He was a former Aquilla Village Councilman and Chardon Postal Service driver. He also worked as a car porter for Preston Chevrolet. Mr. Glover enjoyed working, gardening, cutting grass and driving his purple Chevy Corvette.
He is survived by his children, Leonard H. (Carla) Glover of Painesville Twp., Kathy (Rick Horton) Hambleton of Chardon and Tammy (Thomas) Carver of Hambden Twp.: Grandchildren, Matthew (Kristin) Glover, Brittany (fiancée’ Nicholas Palm) Sutton, Leanne (Michael) Sidley, Allyson (Dan) Henry, Chelsey (fiancée’ Jay D’Agata) Baker, Sarah Baker, Mario Daina, Tyler (Abbey) Carver, Travis (Hailey) Carver; Great Grandfather of 13; Brother of Irene Lohr of FL, Leroy (Patty) Glover of W. Va. and Joseph (Rosalie) Glover of Ohio.,
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley (nee: Barnhart) Glover and siblings, Marie Watkins, Mary Placer, and William Glover.
The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the funeral home. The service will be live streamed from the funeral home website. Interment will follow at East Claridon Cemetery.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Chardon Police Department “Shop with A Cop”, 111 Water Street #1, Chardon, Ohio 44024.
