Laurence “Larry” C. Cashion, Age 91 of Newbury Twp., died January 12, 2018 at Holly Hill Healthcare, Newbury. Born September 19, 1926 in Glens Falls, NY, to Richard and Beatrice (nee: Hill) Cashion. Upon graduation from high school, Larry enlisted in the US Navy, assigned to the Pacific Fleet during World War II, serving on several ships, including the USS Missouri. He went to work for General Electric until he was called back by President Truman during the Korean Conflict, where he served in the Atlantic Fleet. Larry returned to work at General Electric in Schenectady, NY until he requested a transfer to Burlington, VT, where he had enrolled in The University of Vermont. After his graduation from college, he spent the next 25 years in the Corporate world as a Sr. Systems Analyst. Upon his retirement, Larry became a Wildlife Carver and Artist. As a Rotarian for more than 35 years, he was a member of Burton Middlefield Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carole (nee: Fournier) Cashion, PhD, Dean Emerita, Ursuline College, siblings Jeannine Hansen of Maine, Clarence (Jean) of FL, Gerald (Joelle) of NY and Stephen (Donna) of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law John Hansen and sister-in-law Riki Cashion.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 28, from 2:00 – 3:00 at the Welshfield Inn, 14001 Main Market (St. Rt. 422), Burton. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Welshfield Inn. The family prefers donations to Holly Hill Healthcare Community, P.O. Box 337, Newbury, 44065, BMR Foundation, P.O.
