KENT ALLEN FENTON, Age 84, of Sevierville, Tennessee formerly of Thompson, Ohio., peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, August 24, 2020. Born June 10, 1936 to Elmer J. and Martha (nee: Kent) Fenton in Ashtabula, Ohio. He worked for Ledgemont and Painesville Local Schools as a bus driver retiring in 2002. He married his high school sweetheart Ruth Gail Owens on November 18, 1956 whom he met while they both attended Mt. Vernon Academy in Mount Vernon, Ohio where they both graduated. They spent 44 happy years together. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2001. They spent their lives devoted and loving over 150 foster children who all considered them their mom and dad.
Together they enjoyed their road trips on his Gold Wing, and both shared a great love for Quarter Horses, attending Quarter Horse Congress every year was their vacation. One of our greatest memory’s we children have is of the laughter we heard while they played pinochle with their friends on the weekends. His family was his greatest joy.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church. His love and faith in God was strong and lived his life displaying his trust in him.
In 2005, Kent moved to Sevierville, Tennessee where he married Frances Louise Martin. They enjoyed their retirement years visiting family, spending time enjoying the mountains, being involved with his church family and their dogs whom he loved.
He is survived by wife, Frances “Frankie” Fenton of Sevierville, TN, and his children that he cherished, Kent A. Fenton Jr. of Mentor, OH, Robin (Greg) Martin of Sevierville, TN, Vicki (James) Drugatz of Orwell, OH, Consuelo (Michael) Donnelly of Ashtabula, Ohio, Tomeko Martin of Toronto, Canada and Michael Fenton of Sevierville, TN, and Paul Martin of Florida; Grandchildren, Greg (Beth) Martin Jr., Tristin (Thomas) Aquila, Justin Martin, Clint (fiancé Brittany Black) Martin, Cody Martin, Deanna Hunt, Delaney (Daniel) Kacenski), Caleb (Hayley) Martin, Brandon Baugher, Bryan Baugher, Summer Donnelly, MaKayla Riffett, Mariah Riffett and Skye Donnelly. Sister, Joyce (Edgar) Allen of Ashtabula, OH and 13 Great Grandchildren. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth Gail Fenton and brothers, Dwayne, Eugene, Dwight and Wesley.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. with a gathering after at the Smoky Mountain Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1151 Winnfield Dunn Parkway, Sevierville, TN 37876.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson Road, Thompson, Ohio 44086, where he will be laid to rest. A luncheon to follow at St. Mary Banquet Hall, 103 North Maple St., Orwell, Ohio.
