JOHN STEVEN BARTO, Age 75, of Montville Twp, passed away November 18, 2021 at UH Geauga Medical Center. Born September 17,1946 to Chester and Mary (nee: Carey) Barto in Logan, West Virginia, John was a Montville Twp resident since 1972. He was a machinist for both PMC Industries and Pentair Water for many years. He loved to cruise around in his corvettes and attend car shows. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. The joy of his life was being “Papa”.

He is survived by his children John C. (Melissa) Barto of Lancaster, PA, Christopher (Sarah) Barto of Concord Twp.; Grandchildren Morgan, Kyler, Reese, Lily, and Mason; and Siblings Chester (Darla) Barto of MO, and Barbara (Bill) Ballow of WV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 2018 and his parents.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Mass of Christian burial at The Church of St. Mary 401 North St, Chardon, 10:00 A.M. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

The family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org/.

John was like no other , his humor and wit. I truely am blessed to have been able to call John a friend. He is with Helen now. Gone but never forgotten John.

We are very sad to hear of John's passing. We hold lots of wonderful memories of many good times we enjoyed with John & Helen on our car cruises from nearby Burton, Ohio to as-far-away as Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Our sympathies to John, Chris and family for your loss.

We are truly saddened by the news of John"s passing. We have known John since 1997. The father of Chris who is friends with our daughters and son-in-law. We always enjoyed his company at parties and family gatherings and watching our grandchildren play baseball together. We will miss him greatly. We know though that he is at peace and with the love of his life, his wife, Helen. May they both rest in peace. Prayers for the family. Our deepest condolences. Jill & Bill Charske
