JOE S. ADAMS

Joe Stanley Adams II, 74, passed away at his home in West Farmington, Ohio, on December 23, 2020.  Throughout his life, his favorite saying he would live by was “Places to go. People to see. Things to Do.  Worlds to conquer.”  It would be the mantra to his children, family, co-workers, and his life.

Places to go: Joe was born in Athens, Ohio in November 1946.  He was raised in Brantford, Ontario before returning to Athens to attend Ohio University.  He married his wife Nancy in 1967 before he joined the US Army, becoming a combat helicopter pilot.  As a solider, he spent over seas tours in Vietnam, Germany, and Korea.  He retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officers 4 (CW4), then worked for Kaman Aerospace Corp, University of Alaska, University of California, before returning to work at his alma mater Ohio University.  In total he lived in 25 different locations around the world.  

People to see: As a father and grandfather, Joe inspired and influenced family to the service of their country.  His three sons each serve in law enforcement for their communities and two grandchildren have enlisted in the US Navy and Marine Corp.  He was also a teacher and coach, passing his knowledge to young aviators, baseball and hockey players across the country.  

Things to do: Joe grew up playing baseball and hockey in Canada before playing for Ohio University hockey from 1964-1967.  Throughout his life, he was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, chasing game from Alaska to South Africa.  Joe had a love for classic cars, and a particular fondness for Corvettes.  He was also a gunsmith and firearms collector.

Worlds to conquer: Joe traveled the world and conquered his goals in business, athletics, aviation, education, and family.  Joe was a wonderful husband and outstanding father.  In the next world, we are sure he will continue to achieve all his goals. 

Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, Joe and Anna Adams.  He is survived by his wife Nancy Adams, sister Ruth Ann Paderewski; children Joe, Scott, and Andrew; and grandchildren Joseph, Casey, Torie, Jason, Nathan, and Harley.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation at www.fidelco.org.
