Joan Ellen Straniero, Age 89, of Chardon, OH, fell asleep in death on Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Mapleview County Villa in Chardon. Joan was born to Robert D. and Zella (nee: Gazelle Sabo) Anderson on July 11, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a resident of Chardon for 58 years and an active member of the Chardon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses with whom she devoted her time to sharing the Bible’s promise for the future with others (Psalm 37: 10,11; Revelation 21: 3,4).

Joan was the loving and devoted wife of her husband Sam for 71 years. Sam preceded her in death on September 21, 2019. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who is survived by her sons: John (Kathy) Straniero and Sam (Janet-deceased) Straniero; daughters: Sara (Jerry) Lines and Becky (Rob) Gilkey; grandchildren: Jonathan (Kathryn) Straniero, Wendy (Zach) Haines, Brett (Sandra) Bolan, Jeff (Lauren) Bolan, Jocelyn (Dan) Emerson, Cheyenne (Roger) Dennison, Robby (Hannah) Gilkey; great-grandchildren: Shaelyn and Delaney Emerson, Mason Bolan; sisters-in-law: Nancy Straniero, Marjorie Straniero and Joan Estelle Straniero; and many nieces and nephews. Our hearts go out to all of Joan's family in this great loss. She was a beautiful woman in every way and was greatly loved by us and all who knew her. Joan never failed to greet others with that cheerful, warm smile which we will miss so much. She set such a fine example in the way she lived her life, and we are thankful for the many years we have known her and have been able to enjoy her company. It is such a comfort to know that Joan is firmly in Jehovah's memory, and that the day will come when she will be reunited here on earth with those who have loved her so much.

Our hearts our missing another piece and will only be whole again when Joan and many other dear loved ones are reunited with us, healthy, happy and youthful, just around the corner. She will be in our thoughts and in our beautiful memories until that time becomes a fantastic reality! Our love, our prayers, and our hearts are with all of the family. Joan was like a second Mom to me. Her kind hearted spirit, bright smile, and of course, her delicious lemon bars & that eggplant parmesan will be memories we hold close in our minds and hearts.
