Jefferey “Jeff” James Campbell age 65 of Chardon, OH passed away on May 3, 2018 of complications from lung cancer. He was born at Fort Polk, Louisiana on July 6, 1952 to the late James and Eleanor Campbell.
He graduated from Kent State University in 1974 with a BBA in accounting. He also earned an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. He began his career at the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad a subsidiary of USX Corporation where he earned recognition in numerous journals for excellence in financial analysis and maintaining the most accurate level of forecasting. After five promotions he became the Senior Cost Analyst. After leaving the railroad to remain in N.E. Ohio he was a Controller and CFO for several manufacturing companies including then, Jos. Dyson & Sons of Painesville where he served on the Board of Directors as Secretary/Treasurer and was the key company official filing a petition to restrict the import of foreign steel fork lift arms testifying before the International Trade Commission on several occasions during their investigation.
Jeff was very active in his community. He was on the Audit Committee for the City of Chardon, & Past President and member of the Chardon Area Kiwanis. He assisted with the annual car show for C.C.A.T.. As his children were growing he was an officer of Cub Scout Pack 93, he coached basketball for Chardon Recreation, and baseball for the Chardon Baseball League. He held the positions of President, Trustee and Treasurer of Chardon Girls Softball Inc. during his 25 year involvement. His greatest joys were his family, coaching girls’ softball for more than 20 years and vacationing on Sanibel Island for the last 43 years. He also loved The Cleveland Indians, Browns & alternative music on XM Radio. He will be greatly missed.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce (Schaefer) Campbell: his son, Jefferey J. Campbell Jr. and his daughter, Jacki J. Campbell: his sister Kim (Ken) Grabowski, many nieces & nephews, and the family cat, Lucky. He is preceded in death by his parents, & sister, Kathy Michalski.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
