Jeanette C. (Welsh) Burlinghaus, 67, of Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away Sept. 18, 2012, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. Born Sept. 19, 1944, in Walnut, Kansas, she had lived in the Chardon area for 30 years before moving to Daytona Beach 10 years ago. Mrs. Burlinghaus was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Over the years, she worked as a dental hygienist, real estate agent and accountant. Jeanette C. Welsh married Norbert Burlinghaus April 16, 1966, in Bordentown, N.J. Mrs. Burlinghaus was very active in her children’s lives. She helped run the bingo games and dinners for sporting teams at Chardon High School, while her children were there. She was an excellent cook, avid reader and gardener. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Jeanette was proud to be an organ donor. Survivors are her husband, Norbert Burlinghaus of Daytona Beach, Fla.; children, David (Colleen) Burlinghaus of Auburn Township, Michele (Scott) Niehus of Chardon and Tracey (Adam) Georskey of Chardon; seven grandsons, Randy, Ryan and Benjamin Burlinghaus, Hunter and Jake Niehus, and Michael and Austin Georskey; brother, Michael (Charles Walton) Welsh of Takoma Park, Md.; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, her dachshund Snickers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas W. and Georgiana M. (Reissig) Welsh; sisters, Patricia Gail Digristina and Kathleen Ann Edge; and nephew, Mark “Sparky” Digristina.Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. The Rev. Daniel Redmond of the church will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Private family burial will be held at a later date. The family requests donations to the American Cancer Society , 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, OH 44106.
