JAMES ‘JIMMY’ POPOVICH, Age 61 of Chardon Twp., died unexpectedly at his home on April 23, 2019. Born August 13, 1957 in Cleveland, to Peter and Audrey (nee: Schleimer) Popovich, he moved to Chardon in 1993. Jimmy loved classic cars, his dog “Sheldon”, working on his yard and walking with his wife and dog. For more than 30 years, he was a truck driver but retired from Mapledale Farm after 12 years of service.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Connie (nee: Murphy) Popovich of Chardon Twp. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Peter.

The family is planning a Celebration of Jimmy’s life at a later date at Big Creek Park, where Jimmy and Connie were married and walk Sheldon daily.

Dear Connie, So very sorry for ;your loss. Jimmy and I played Johnny Quest, married our dogs, Taffy and BoZo, had fun growing up and going to school together! I have very fond memories of him. He was a very kind and sweet man. It is very sad and frightening when your childhood friends and classmates pass away!

Our deepest sympathy, Connie, in the loss of Jimmy. He will truly be missed by us. Hardly a day would go by when he wasn't making us laugh. He was truly one of our favorites. What a great guy!

My longtime friend and partner in boyhood high jinks. Since grade school on, we have lived large and played hard for over 50 years. Just thinking of some of our ventures makes me laugh-out-loud. Road trips in vintage cars, gambling at the race track, poker games and all night Monopoly were a blast.
