Irving Carlisle Diemer Jr., age 91, of Chardon, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Maplewood Heather Hill Care Communities, Munson Twp., Ohio. He was born July 17, 1927 in Euclid, Ohio to Irving Carlisle and Corrine (nee: Merkel) Diemer. He married Patricia (nee: Bundy) on September 9, 1950 in Euclid, Ohio. She preceded him in death in 2014. He graduated from Shore High School. He received his bachelor’s degree attending both Denison and Ohio State University.
Irv and his late brother Edmund Diemer owned Metal Seal & Products, Inc. and led the company for over 60 years retiring in 2009. He served on many committees of the Precision Machined Products Association (formerly, National Screw Machine Products Association).
Music was one of his great loves. For over 50 years he entertained thousands with his big band. Irv was a Flight Engineer in the U. S. Navy, became a pilot and loved to fly. On any sunny day you could find him driving one of his Mustangs or Shelbys. His legacy lives on through the many people he enthusiastically mentored with his kindness, generosity and love.
He is survived by his son, Dale C (Laura) Diemer of Hambden Twp., Daughters, Lori Diemer of Willoughby and Dyan (Kevin O’Donoghue) Diemer of Manhattan, N.Y. Granddaughters, Hannah (Bradley) Diemer Sekas and Hayley Diemer.
He is also preceded in death by his son Kurt J. Diemer.
The family would like to acknowledge the 15 years of love and care given by the staff at Maplewood, Irv and Pat’s ‘extended family’. We would also like to thank Crossroads Hospice for their compassion over these last months.
A Celebration of Life and Graveside Service will be held in the near future.
