Florence J. (nee: Marason) Nelson, 81, Hambden Township, passed away May 24, 2012, at UHHS Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township. Born March 15, 1931, in Woodmere Village, she had lived in Mentor before moving to Hambden Township in 1976. Mrs. Nelson was in the shipping office at Bailey Controls for more than 30 years, retiring in 1997. Florence J. Marason married Donald Nelson Feb. 17, 1951, in Shaker Heights. Mrs. Nelson was a 1949 graduate of Orange High School. She loved reading, family life and flowers especially, Violets and Iris. She loved riding in the country, stopping to sight see and garage sales. She enjoyed wildlife and birds. She was a proud Hambden Twp. resident for 35 years and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Aerie Eagles 2261. Survivors are her husband, Donald Nelson of Hambden Township; children, Donald (Kathy) Nelson Jr. of Burton, William Nelson of Hambden Township and Debra (Roy) Chidester of Hambden Township; grandchildren, Melinda Nelson of Lake Milton and Sean Nelson of Mentor; great-grandson, Landon Nelson; sisters, Marcy (Ralph) Meteling of Pepper Pike, Norma Robinson of Toledo, Mary Lou (Harry) Warner of Ashtabula and Sandra (Walter) Blankchaen of Newton Falls; brother, Louis (Tina) Marason of Woodmere; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Florence Marason. Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. The Rev. Robert Gaston, retired, will officiate. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at the funeral home.
