Elmer E. HERMAN age 78, of Jefferson, died July 28, 2013 at UH Geauga Regional Medical Center. Born July 29, 1934 in Woodcock Twp, PA to Emmit and Bessie (nee: Whitely) Herman, he had been a resident of Austinburg before moving to Myrtle Beach 10 years ago. He was a retired machinist with RMI in Ashtabula. Elmer enjoyed fishing, spending time at the beach and watching NASCAR and stock car races. Along with his sons he built and raced stock cars at Sharon and Raceway 7. Elmer is survived by his sons Elmer (Rose) of Jefferson and James (Barb Saltz) of Jefferson; daughter Darla (Richard) Ales of Solon; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers Donald and Norm (Sarah); sister Marjorie Carraher and many cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Alice Carraher. At Elmer’s request, private family services were held. Arrangements by the Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Chardon.
