Tom was our son Drew's 5th Grade Teacher. Tom was such an excellent Educator that had so much pride in his students. He presented a very challenging and enriching educational curriculum. Tom cared about each student . He was such a gentle man. Tom was Drew's very favorite teacher and remembers him with the fondest memories.Tom and Marcia came to our home for dinner on the very last day of 5th grade. We had such a beautiful visit. We have been so very blessed and honored to keep in touch with Tom and Marcia over 20 years. It was a blessing for us to share our joys with Tom and Marcia as we celebrated Drew's Bar Mitzvah in our Synagogue, High School and College Graduations. Tom's love of life and people has left a very memorable impact on our hearts.May Tom Rest in PeaceOur most sincere Sympathy to Marcia and the familyLinda and Mel Solomon, Drew Sowa

Marcia, and family, Mickey and I were sorry to hear of Tom's passing; Frank Gabbert gave us the message. I learned a lot about Tom that I did know by reading the obituary on line; he certainly led a full and generous life. The time that we knew each other he was a good friend and competent educator. I was always in awe of his being the President of the Elementary Principal's Association OF OHIO! That was a real honor. He certainly has had a full life with you and his ministries since we both retired in '92.Best wishes to you, Bob and Mickey

Dear Marcia, Tanja and Family,What an amazing legacy you and your dear husband have given to Chardon and beyond. So many lives touched and changed because he was willing to take the time to care. I know there are no words that can bring comfort, but I am confident that there are arms around you all that will sustain you through this time. Sending much love from California, Barb

aw, my first comment disappeared. I loved Pastor Boytar's teaching and most of all I loved how he encouraged us to read through the Bible every year and to fast. He was so encouraging. He always had a good word. I'm sorry my weekend was so over-scheduled. I wish I could have been there to see everyone again. God bless you!

Pastor Tom helped me find my way back and taught me to love GOD's word and read the bible every day. Those midweek bible studies really kept me on my toes. I pray for peace for family and friends and always proclaim Grace over the church property every time I pass by. Grace...

I am saddened to hear of Tom's passing. But I am excited for him! What a servant and a soldier. He touched so many...including me.It was Tom who led me to faith in Christ. It was Tom who helped me through a rough patch in life.It was Tom who helped me take my first steps as a missionary.Neither Tom, nor I, knew where it would all lead.......Bit God did!It was the Gospel, that Tom gave me, that I took into 54 countries.Teaching. Preaching, Training, and making disciples. So as I see it, Tom shares in the millions of lives that God has touched simply because he was faithful in explaining the Gospel to a high school kid back in 1975. As I reflect on his impact on my life, I realize how God used him in such a huge way. Tom's legacy is HUGE.He will always be someone who stood for Jesus Christ.....and an awesome reflection of the life changing Grace.I hope my life can impact as many as Tom's did!Praying for you during this time Marica (kelly and tanja too)Geoff CraggBoard Chairman of Forgotten Children andFormer Vice President of Youth for Christ International

So sad to hear of Tom's death. My family has such good memories of he and you, Marcia, beginning with his grand entrance into Chardon and Mary Crellin's home. What a zeal for life and for his vocation. He truly made an impact . God speed as he celebrates the beginning of the Promised Life.

I first meet Tom and Marice at Burton Health Care. I like him so much I asked ifhe would marry my husband and I. We had dated for 12 years. Tom thought thatwe knew each other well enough. My Husband and I (Claudia) did not send out invitations. We had my husband's late friend ( Ottis Porter) and his sister PhyllisCarroll to stand up for us. It was to be a very small Wedding. To our disbelief40 people showed up. Tom called over to his wife and asked her to play the organ. In the middle of the ceremony Tom starts to chuckle and says that only4 people were to be here. Praise God!!

Dear Marcia, Tanya and Kelly, and Family,Even though our hearts are sorrowful at the passing of our first Pastor, we rejoice knowing that we will see him again one day. Words cannot express the impact Tom has left on our lives. He along with you Marcia led us to know our Lord and Savior 24 years ago and taught us how to walk faithfully. You were an excellent example and grounded us in God's word. We are able to reach out to others with the same love, respect and patience you showed us. Tom will never be forgotten and you will always hold a special place in our hearts and lives! With Love and prayers,Tom and Rebecca Cole

Carolyn Ward left a message on April 10, 2012:
Dear Pastor Marcia and family,With heartfelt sympathy and respect I remember my time with Pastor Tom, no successor knew the history of the church like he was able to teach us and his knowledge of the Living Word was without question one of his greatest assets. There were Thursday night teachings when I hung on every word as he would explain the beginnings of so many of the denominations and their original beliefs. So many sadly removed from their beginnings today. Our paths crossed earlier in my teens as a young girl that had just lost her father in a car accident, he was very sensitive to me as a school official, I was always grateful for that authority figure in my school caring for my feelings and what I was going through. That same caring showed up in his many visits to hospital patients, the elderly, shut ins, and many others, as he tirelessly ministered to their needs. To God be the Glory for a man who stood for integrity and righteousness in a world so badly in need of that example. My thoughts are with you all as I know how very special his family was to him as well as the many he touched throughout his ministry.
