DAVID LELAND VANCE
Age 77, of Chardon, died Monday, December 14 at Thistle House Senior Living in Chardon. He was born August 13, 1943 in New Castle, PA to Harold and Lorraine (nee: Ortmayer) Vance. On August 1, 1964 he married the love of his life, Jane (nee: Brown). Together they have been residents of the Geauga County area since 1982.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served as a Submarine Warfare Specialist. David then worked in the retail and commercial sectors as a safety professional and was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers; former member of the Fairport Harbor Yacht Club and Rotary Club of Chardon. He also attended Chardon United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, David A. (Meghen) Vance of Longwood, FL, Mark (Tracy) Vance of Chardon, and Tom (Nami) Vance of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Katie (David) Foster of Chardon; brothers, John (Glenna) Vance of Franklin, WI, Robert (Nancy) Vance of Sun City, FL, and Tom (Peter) of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Tara (Robert) Landies; Mitchell and Logan Foster, Andrew, Grace, Heidi and Jane Vance; and great-grandchildren, Rosie, Naomi, Robert and Ingrid Landies and Kiley Vance. He was preceded by his parents.
A PRIVATE Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed via David’s online obituary at www.burrservice and click on the “Watch Memorial Service” button.
