Dale B. Wedge, age 64 of Chardon, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on December 29th, 2021.

He was born July 29th, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio to Clifford John and Dorothy June (nee: Ruple) Wedge. Dale was a lifelong Chardon resident and a graduate of the Chardon High School Class of 1975. Dale served the Geauga County residents in a number of roles. He retired from the Geauga Department of Emergency Services in 2017, was a member of the Burton Police Department (part time) for 29 years, and a member of the Chardon Fire Department from 1978 to 1985. Dale was a past member of the Chardon Jaycees and was on the Chardon Civil Service Commission from 2001 to 2013. Dale volunteered at the Chardon Food Pantry and the Meals on Wheels Program for the Department of Aging. He was also a member of the Chardon FOE.

Dale enjoyed taking friends and family fishing on his boat. He was a member of Lake Village Campground since 2014 where he enjoyed camping with his family, friends and his dog, Mazy. He had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed local history and sharing his knowledge with others.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gretchen (Jaite); two children, Jared of Chardon, OH and Lindsey of Fairport Harbor, OH; and brother Clifford H. (Donna) of Munson Twp.

Dale was preceded in death by his father Clifford and mother Dorothy.

No service will be held at this time. The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date.

I am sorry for your loss

A good man, great leader, a true friend. Always in my prayers.

I worked with Dale at Geauga County for over ten years . He was always kind and helpful to me and even let me clean out the garage at DES...twice. So many hours standing around outside the building while he smoked and we gossiped. A good friend and colleague. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Dear Gretchen and family, I am deeply saddened to hear about Dale. I had the pleasure of working with him for many years. I use the word friend sparingly but, I considered him one. Not only a great person, he did so much for our county. I learned a lot from him as he was generous with his time and knowledge. I also appreciate all of his support of me. I will greatly miss him. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. If there is ever anything I can do, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Rest in peace my friend.

Another person who knew Dale from working at the EMA Center. Very sorry to hear of his passing, as I to have great memories of working with him. He was a man who respected you, treated you honestly, and firmly when he had to. He NEVER talked down to anyone. We had great talks about life, work and life in general. He had my respect. I remember his laugh, and the good years working for him. My condolences to his family and friends. But thanks Dale for the GOOD years I worked with you.

I have so many memories of you from mom and dad's years with EMA. There are 3 that really stand out though. Mom telling you to marry Gretchen, you and dad pulling the bumper off Sheriff Todd's personal vehicle during a snowstorm and mom complaining that nothing ever happened in the county unless you were out of town. Thank you for always being there for mom and dad. I have dad's marshal's badge that you passed onto him at his 80th birthday party. Thank you for the memories!

So sad and sorry to hear of his passing. Dale has a heart of gold and was always generous. He will be missed by many. Prayers for Dales' family. Rest in God's arms.

I'm so sorry to Dale's family. I got to work with Dale for years when I was a dispatcher at GCSO. I'm so shocked to hear this. All the pranks we would play on each other are running through my head right now. I remember when Dale had the county dignitaries in the building and he was giving them a tour of the building. We got onto the intercom and said, "Dale Wedge. . .is that a mustache or are you eating a mouse?" Dale came into the dispatch laughing and mad at the same time. Sincere condolences to Dale's family. The world lost another good man. . .
