CARL DAVID LIGHT, of Hartsgrove Twp., passed away at his home, surrounded by family on Thur., September 20, 2018. Dave was born on June 27, 1953, in Chardon, OH, to Carl and Vera (Nee: Parsons) Light.

Dave loved spending time with his grandchildren, umpiring their ballgames, teaching them how to weld, hunt and drive a tractor. He enjoyed drag racing and riding his Harley. Throughout their 37 years together, Dave enjoyed traveling with Jan. He enjoyed raising pigs and chickens. He loved spending time working in his garage with family and friends who would stop in to visit. He loved sharing his recliner chair with his beloved dog, Molly. Dave proudly served in the US Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War and retired from the Iron Workers Union Local 17 in Cleveland, OH. He was a member of Triandria Lodge #780, F&AM in Rock Creek and a baptized member of the Geneva Church of Christ.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife and companion of 37 years Janet (Gilson) Light; three daughters, Tina (Troy) Smith, Dawn (Tom) Seger, and Shelley (Barry) Doing; one son, Berry (Shelly) Hall; 11 grandchildren, Brandi (Ben) Elliott, Nathan Smith, Danielle Branch, Mikaila Smith, Caitlynn Hall, Gordon Seger, William Seger, Zachary Hall, Taylor Hall, Kyra Doing and Cooper Doing; two great-granddaughters, Raelynn and Adalynn Branch. Dave is also survived by four sisters, Darlene Light, Donna (Doug Williams) Light, Dee (John) Berlinski, and Doreen (Bob) Hallbom and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Vera Light and brother Dennis Light.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 116 South St., Chardon, Ohio 44024. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Dave’s name to the charity of your choice.
