Age 81, of Cortland, died unexpectedly at her home, October 2, 2018. Born June 5, 1937 in Cleveland to the late Louis G. and Gertrude A. (nee: Koesel) Planinc, she lived in Chardon and Mentor on the Lake before moving to Cortland, living at Walnut Run Senior Villas, where she was surrounded by friends, enjoying each other’s company and playing Bingo. Barb was a Primary School Teacher for the Cleveland City Schools for 10 years, until she became a mother and stayed at home to raise her children. Barbara was an animal lover, but her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Bonnie L. (Felipe) Coleman of Eastlake and Becky L. (Joseph) Nay of Johnston Twp., grandchildren Joseph and Nicholas Zako, Lunna and Felipe Coleman, Emily and Abigail Nay and her sister in law, Effie Planinc. She also leaves her former husband and friend, Robert Torok.
She was preceded by her brother Thomas L. Planinc.
The family will receive friends Monday October 8, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, followed by the service at 1:00 PM and burial at All Souls Cemetery. Information and condolences on line at www.burrservice.com.
