Alan Joseph Ganim. 1941-2021
Alan J. Ganim, age 80, of Claridon Twp. passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on February 19, 2021.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 8, 1941 to the late Albert and Anne (nee: Zlaket) Ganim.
He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He was an esteemed graduate of Shaker Heights High School, Class of 1959, and The Ohio State University, Class of 1964. He also attended Cleveland Marshal Law School. He spent over 50 years in the insurance and financial planning industry and he found so much joy in helping and advising his clients throughout his career.
He grew up in Shaker Heights, raised his family in Lyndhurst and Claridon Twp. in Geauga County, which is where he and his wife resided until his passing.
He was never more at home than on a dance floor, a baseball diamond, a golf course, or a tennis court. He spent many years guiding young athletes through coaching and mentoring. He is remembered by so many as a kind and gentle man, full of integrity, and always having a huge smile on his face. He also cherished any opportunity to get together with family, including his many cousins and relatives. The principles and values that guided his entire life and relationships with others were his unwavering faith and his relationship with Jesus.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (nee: Kubishke) of 54 years, his children Michael (Deborah), Matthew (Vicki), Kristen (Jason) McNabb and Daniel Ganim. His grandchildren, Helaina and Samuel Ganim, Jordana, Madison and Tyler McNabb, and his sisters, Elaine (Rudy) Lipovek and Nancy Stack. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Anne Ganim, and his brother Paul.
