Winifred Mae (Hunn) Amberik, 81, a Chardon resident since 1958 and previously of Cleveland, was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Akron, and passed away Nov. 16, 2011, at Blossom Hill Care Center, surrounded by her loving family.Winifred married William Amberik Feb. 7, 1953, in Centerville, Pa.She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School in 1948. She went on to Hiram College, where she earned her bachelor’s in education. Winnie was a loving homemaker and was very active in the Girl Scouts of America. Winnie enjoyed bowling, photography, crafts, knitting, sewing, ceramics, and painting. She especially enjoyed painting with her group of friends. She was of the Methodist faith.Survivors are her husband of 58 years, William Amberik of Chardon; son, William T. Amberik; daughters, Rebecca (Sheldon) McCartney, Kathryn (Pete) Weybrecht and Dorothy (Jim) Thompson, all of Chardon; grandchildren, Nathan, Kelly, Gary, Erin, Eric, Amanda, Nicole, Hillary, and Rob; great-grandchildren, Glenn, Lucas, Kai, Braydon, Moira, Jocelyn, and Kennedy Mae; and sister, Evelyn Rice of Niles.She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Zelma Hunn; and daughter-in-law, Terry Amberik.Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the funeral home.
