William James “Bill” Griesmer, 62, of Windsor Township, passed away March 22, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 1, 1950, in Cleveland, Bill had lived in Chardon before moving to Windsor 12 years ago. He was general manager of St. Denis Golf Course in Chardon Township for 40 years. He was the beloved companion to his golden retrievers, Toby Dog and Tara Doggy. While many came to be acquainted with Bill through St. Denis Golf Course, they came to know him for his forthrightness, integrity, generosity and kind manner. Those lucky enough to have known him will remember him always with love. Survivors are his children, Bill (Heidi) Griesmer of Columbus, OH, Alissa “Lou/Lissy” (Derek Schartung) Griesmer of Nashville and Brendan (Ani) Griesmer of North Royalton; grandchildren, Ryan and Devin Griesmer; mother, Mary Ann (nee Clark) Foecking of Chardon; siblings, Daniel Griesmer of Cincinnati, Robert (Maureen) Griesmer of Mentor, Clare (Don) Labaj of Berea, Daniel Foecking of Portage, Mich., Nancy (John) Real of Gurnee, Ill., Susan Majka of Strongsville, Cathy (Dennis) Jung of Frederick, Md., Brian (Holly) Foecking of Concord Township and Joseph Foecking of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and dear friend and former wife, Janice Kadis Griesmer of Streetsboro. He was also the loving uncle to many. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Anthony Griesmer and Norbert “Scotty” Foecking; siblings, Patricia Purcell and Denis Foecking; and sister-in-law, Ines Foecking; and brother-in-law, John Majka.Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. The Rev. Timothy Kalista of the church will officiate. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
