William Gullo age 81 of Chardon (Munson Twp) passed away May 22, 2017 at Maplewood Assisted Living. Born Dec. 30, 1935 in Adena, OH to George and Hazel (nee: Vehre) Gullo Sr, he had been a longtime area resident. Bill served with the US Army from 1959-1961. He worked in the Y&O Coal Mines in Cadiz, OH before moving to the Chardon area and working at Lincoln Electric; retiring after many years. Bill was a member of the Chardon VFW post #6519, Adena American Legion #525 and was instrumental in starting the Chardon Lions Club Mini-Football League; he also coached the Tigers and Raiders simultaneously for many years. He was also an avid Browns and Indians fan. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Peggy (nee: Greaves) of Munson Twp; daughter Melinda Wachtel of Cuyahoga Falls; Mark Gullo of Flagstaff, AZ and Monte Gullo of Sacramento, CA; grandson Nate (Lindsey Barta) Wachtel of Cuyahoga Falls; brother Jack (Marty) Gullo of Chardon; sister Marge Bednarki of Adena, OH and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother George Gullo Jr. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. A funeral service will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home with a private family burial at Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
