Virgil Raymond Collier

Virgil R. Collier age 95 of Burton Twp., OH was born in Fowler’s Mill in Munson Twp., OH, on October 4, 1916 and had been a lifelong Geauga County resident. He died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Burton Health Care, Burton, OH. Virgil was a self-employed Dairy Farmer on his farm in Mesopotamia, OH from 1940-1968. Virgil R. Collier married Marian Grace Altman in Lake Aquilla, Claridon Twp., in 1939. She preceded in death on March 8, 1998. He was former member of the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club and participated in the Great Geauga County FairSurvivors are his daughter, Rae (Dennis) Batig of North Royalton, OH; 2 Grand daughters, Elizabeth Fuller of Gambier, OH and Jennifer (Jim) Bobzien of Binghamton, NY; 2 Great Grandchildren: Shelby Bobzien and Jadyn Bobzien; 2 Sisters: Rita Cantrick of Clark Summit, PA and Caroline (John) Ellis of Wimberly, TXIn addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Rhae Collier; sister, Ruby Collier; and 4 Brothers, Murray, Dwayne, Cecil, and Kenneth Collier.

I have very fond memories from my earliest days of visiting "Uncle Carlos and Aunt Blanche," your dad and mother in Mesopotamia, and much later in Burton.Always enjoyed seeing them when we got "home" from New England, and meeting you again, as well, when we were working on the Collier family history.Sorry we are not able to be with you at this sad time, but are thinking fondly of those past memories. Dear Rae and family,I just heard about Uncle Virgil's passing. I can speak for all the Johnson's past and present. We thought Virgil was the funniest guy around. All the fun experiences at family gatherings with uncle Fred aunt Ruth and my dad and mom ,Roy and Mary Johnson and Marian and Virgil were priceless. Traveling was such fun and you have heard of all their vacations. Wish I could be there with you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. There goes the last hero of my childhood.
