Thomas J. Gilday, age 82, passed away on December 20, 2017. He was the Vice Chairman of the Board and Executive Art Director of Griswold. He ranked as one of the top ten advertising visualizers in America, based on recognition from the New York Advertising Club. He joined the company in 1964. A veteran of the Korean War. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Barbara (Penkal). Loving father of Thomas (deceased), Pauline (Conrad) Layson and Shawn Patrick Michael. Grandfather of Shawn Patrick Michael Jr., Erica Layson, and Sara Layson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street (on St. Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/ Chardon Square). So sorry to hear of your dad's passing Shawn. Wishing you and your family comfort during this difficult time.

Barb, Pauline and Shawn - There are not enough words to express how sorry I am for your loss. Tom was truly a unique individual, combining a tremendous talent with a sense of fairness. I feel truly honored to have been able to call him friend. To this day, every time they advertise Cadbury Easter Eggs, I have to smile! If there are trees in heaven, I am sure that he and Jake are already planning their next project.

Barbara, Pauline, Shawn and family, so very sorry for your loss. Tom hired me at Griswold, was a mentor to me and was a great guy to work with. We had a lot of laughs together and I will always remember his wit and wisdom. Rest in Peace Tom.

Mrs. Gilday, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Gilday. I can only hope that he and Jake are enjoying each other’s Company once again.He was such a wonderfully kind man to me as a child & he will never me forgotten.
