Steven Adam Loveland, age 92 of Hambden Township, died on Fathers’ Day, June 17, 2012, at his home. He was 92 years old.Steven was a life-long resident of Geauga County. He was born on January 2, 1920, and was raised on a farm with his 13 brothers and sisters, the children of Stanley and Hazel Loveland. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1938 and married his high school sweetheart, Junetta Rose Hoffman in 1944. They were married for 66 years until her death in 2011. He went to work for the Snapout Forms Company in Chardon and was employed there for forty years, with a break for military service. He also worked at Solon Manufacturing Co. in Chardon. Steven served in the Army’s Company B of the 1289th Engineering Battalion during WWII, building and repairing bridges and roads in Europe. He also served as an MP at a prisoner of war camp in Texas and was stationed in the Philippines. He enjoyed spending time at his home, which he built himself in 1952. He liked tinkering and solving problems around the house – like keeping his original furnace running for 58 years. He loved growing and harvesting his own vegetables. He spent many pleasant hours mowing his acres of grass, plowing the snow in his driveway, and savoring the breeze on his porch while he listened to the Indians’ or Browns’ games. Another favorite activity was eating Junetta’s delicious homemade pies and strawberry shortcakes. Steven is survived by his four children: Judy (Mark) Crumley of Medina, Debby (Jason) Aronoff of Tonawanda, NY, Sharon (Leo) Bosnar of Chardon, and Bill Loveland of Chardon; grandchildren Jenny, Nell, and Amy Aronoff, Maia (Jacob) Jerin; great-grandchildren Harmony Crumley, Laila and Juliana Jerin; brother Richard (Jackie), and sisters Mary Godwin and Evelyn (Bill) Turner. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Arlene, Mildred, and Joanne Loveland, and brother-in-law Hans Miggo, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his wife Junetta, grandson Steven Crumley, brothers Ralph, Floyd, Clayton “Mike”, Homer, and Charles, and sisters Dorothy Mattson, Irene Snyder, Joanna Miggo, Mildred Loveland, and Virginia Loveland. Visiting hours will be Thursday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at Burr Funeral Home.
