Stephen M. Kovalick age 36 of Chardon passed away at home on June 24, 2016. Born Aug. 28, 1979 to Stephen G. and Debra (nee: DiCioccio) Kovalick, he was a longtime area resident. Steve married his sweetheart Jacklyn Lanstrum on Sept. 1, 2013 in Concord. Steve was a loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, son-in-law, brother-in-law and friend. He attended St. Mary’s School in Mentor, Memorial Jr. High and Mentor High Class of 1997, before becoming a proud graduate of John Carroll University. As a youngster, Steve loved playing baseball, basketball and tennis. He grew up an avid Cleveland sports fan. He loved to follow their trials and tribulations and always had ideas for improving the teams. Steve loved having pets in the house; anything in the pet store was in the house at one time or another. He enjoyed cooking, especially on his Big Green Egg. Steve always liked to have the newest in technology, which led him to his career in telecommunications. He began work in retail sales, eventually working his way up to store manager at AT&T. Steve loved to repeat movie quotes to fit the situation. “Stop whining” was one of his favorites. His family and friends will remember him as having the biggest heart and always offering a helping hand to anyone. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his son Lincoln. He is survived by his loving wife Jacklyn (nee: Lanstrum); son Lincoln Kovalick; parents Stephen and Debra Kovalick of Mentor; brother Scott (Caroline) Kovalick of Athens; aunts Judy (Lou) Marino of Waite Hill and Maria (Jim) Continenza of AZ; cousin Lisa Continenza of Seattle, WA; in-laws George and Karen Lanstrum; brothers-in-law Jody (Nykki) Lanstrum of AK and Jon (Gwendy) Lanstrum of Hambden; niece, many nephews and God Parents of Lincoln, Patrick and Mindy Cannon. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ugo DiCioccio, Eleanor Perri and George and Kay Kovalick. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North Street, Chardon with burial to follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
