Samuel Robert Szabo

July 20, 2003 - October 22, 2011

Sam was a 2nd grade student at Notre Dame Elementary School in Munson Twp., OH. He loved all sports. He was a soccer, basketball, baseball player and a Cub Scout. Sam was a huge fan of “Scooby Doo”, loved the color green and enjoyed swimming with family and friends. He loved playing video games and watching movies with his brothers and was becoming a “Jr. Movie Critic”. His dream was to become a chef, as he made his own creations in mom’s kitchen. His most recent creation, last Thursday, was hamburgers in the shape of hot dogs. He named them “S Dogs” and shared them with his Grandparents. Sam was a “witty” child and never afraid to speak his mind. Sam was loved by all who knew him and will be in our hearts forever. He is survived by his adoring parents Paul L. and Jennifer C. (nee: Backus) Szabo of Munson Twp., cherished brothers: Joshua “Josh” and Benjamin “Ben” , grandparents Jim Szabo of Leavittsburg, OH, Judy (nee: Kaser) (Robert) Schuller of Twinsburg, OH and Robert and Cecelia (nee: Marsh) Backus of Wickliffe, OH; aunts & uncles Christine Welch of Painesville, OH, Veronica (Russell) Stankus of Wickliffe, OH. Julie (Bill) Hennessey-Szabo of Cincinnati, OH, Charlene (David) Lawrence of Wickliffe, OH, Matthew (Jo Marie) Szabo of Twinsburg, OH and Rebecca Backus of Wickliffe, OH. He also leaves his beloved cousins Janice, Nick, Jake, Scott, Mitch, Olivia, Madi and Jack and his loving dog Lucy.

I am the girls basketball coach at NDCL and although I did not know Sam he seem to be an outstanding young man. I lost my 20 year old daughter in a car accident on February 21 and just wanted you to know had sorry I am for your loss. No one can know the pain that you are feeling or how to help you but I wanted you to know that I share your pain.

Dear family,I am so very very sorry for the loss of such a wonderful wonderful little boy..He stole my heart the minute I met him and I always looked forward to his "awesomeness" when I entered his room to do his vitals or for any other reason I had to enter the room..I made it a mission to get his vitals at night without waking him and I must say my success rate was maybe 70/30 for the good..My heart hurts for you and your family and my thoughts are with you during this time..I will miss Sam and all of you..You are a wonderful family and it has been a pleasure to know you.Teressa M50 PCNA Night Shift

We first met Sam when he was about a month old. Such a sweet, beautiful baby. Jennifer and Paul sent us Christmas pictures of their beautiful boys every year. We live in N.C. and we were able to see them grow each year. In 2007, Sam and his family joined us to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in Marietta, OH. Sam and his brothers and cousins helped captain the paddle wheeler boat on the Ohio River. Sam enjoyed piloting the boat and taking the mike to talk to passengers. We so enjoyed his smile and are thankful and honored to have been able to know and love Sammy.Our thoughts, prayers, and love are with Josh, Ben, Jen, and Paul.Love, Aunt Jean and Uncle Jim Miracle
