Age 82, of Chardon, OH, died on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at his residence. He was born on December 20, 1934, in Akron, OH, the son of Joseph and Julia (Nee: Molohosky) Bechkowiak and graduated from Hower High School. Russell had been project manager for the Albert M. Higley Company. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, making parts for Ford “Woodie” Station wagons and restoring his own.
Survivors include his daughter, Michele (Paul) Montgomery of Kentfield, CA; sons, Russell “Boom” (Susan) Bechkowiak of Chardon and Michael Bechkowiak of Bellingham, WA; grandchildren, John Bechkowiak, Eva (Jeff) Bukovec, Porter Montgomery, and Sophie Bechkowiak; great grandson Dashiell Bukovec; sisters, Olga Kurtz of Akron, OH and Vicky Kelsey of Boca Raton, FL; his partner, Marie. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Anne Smith.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:00 to 3:00 p..m and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, with a Panikhida Service following at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 9650 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Mentor, OH. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cemetery, 1600 Krumroy Rd., Akron, OH. Following the interment, there will be a reception at The Farm, 12798 GAR Hwy, Chardon, OH (approximately 2:30PM)
