Born in Cleveland in 1941 and always a diehard Cleveland sports fan, Ron attended College at Kent State, wore many hats as a volunteer at West Geauga Recreation Council, Maple Leaf Community Residences, Inc., and as a coach for his sons. Mr. Bottger, a 35 year Public Servant, worked for the Village of Hunting Valley as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Sergeant and later as Hunting Valley’s Service Director. After retiring from the Village of Hunting Valley, Ron drove a school bus for West Geauga School System. In recent years, Ron worked as an electronic assembler for Meritec. Mr. Bottger will always be remembered for his engaging smile, as a practical joker, and champion for the underdog.
Survivors include his devoted wife of nearly 54 years, Janie (nee, Murdock) Bottger; sons, Michael (Christie Daubert-Bottger), Mark (Dawn Lemmo-Bottger); daughter, Kristen; grandchildren, Natalie, Matthew and Zachary Bottger. Beloved Brother of Joan Bottger-Venaleck (John “Jack” Venaleck, Sr.), and dear uncle to many.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, John Bottger and Rose Marie Bottger (Potisk).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Maple Leaf Community Residences (Caves’ Road Home), 200 Claridon Road, Chardon, OH 44024.
