Richard M. Nelson, age 66 of Chardon died Oct. 16, 2016 at UH Geauga Regional Medical Center. Born May 29, 1950 in Franklin, PA to Donald and D. Marie (nee: Nelson) Wazlavek, he had been a longtime area resident. Richard married Judy Briggs on June 3, 1988 in Newbury. Rick loved to fish; fishing as much as possible with his family in Ohio and Lake Chautauqua, NY. He worked at Curtis Industries and drove truck for Manfredi Trucking. Survivors include his children Lindsey (Chris Ford) Nelson, Stacie (Jeff) Malone, Wayne (Amanda) Hardesty, Kent (Katey) Hardesty, Brett, Carol and Shelly; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and brother Darrell Wazlavek. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 25 years Judy. A memorial gathering will be from 5 to 8pm on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH.
