Reed A. “Tom” Boon

Age 89 of Salem, OH died September 17, 2017 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem. Born October 5, 1927 in Mantua, OH to Carl G. and Vera (nee: Reed) Boon. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, he was an avid reader, hunter and enjoyed bird watching. Tom was a dairy farmer most of his adult life but retired from the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol after 15 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jeanice (nee: Dietz) Boon of Salem, his children Roger Reed Boon of Maggie Valley, NC, Ronald Ray (Sharon) Boon of Winner, SD, Linda Rae (Charles) Dodds of Hinckley and Patricia Jean (John) Creel of Clayton, NC. He also leaves his grandchildren Katie (TJ) Campbell, Matthew, Steven, Julia and Arianna Dodds; great granddaughter, Kinley Rose, and sisters Erma J. Hostetler and Carol Oros of Mantua. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on Friday, September 22, 2017 Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (on St. Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon. The FUNERAL SERVICES will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.Interment will follow at Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
