Raymond G. “Ray” Dauscher
Age 88 of Chardon, passed away December 1, 2017 at Blossom Hill Care Center, where he received loving care. Born September 8, 1929 in Cleveland to George D. and Sophie (nee: Hetzel) Dauscher, he lived in Mentor for 20 years before moving to Chardon 1976. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Ray was a corporate attorney for White Consolidated Industries and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University.
Following his retirement, he served as an Assistant Geauga County Prosecutor before starting his private practice.
Ray was involved in community affairs starting with his attainment of Eagle Scout. While in Mentor, he served on the Board of Mentor Methodist Church and was a member of Mentor Kiwanis Club and the Buckeye Retriever Club. In Chardon, he was an active member of Chardon United Methodist Church and the Chardon Rotary Club. He served on the Board of the United Way for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty (nee: Minetree) Dauscher of Chardon, his daughter Catherine “Cate” (Rudy) Buchheit of Columbus and his son, T. Philip (Annette) Dauscher of Groton, VT, his grandchildren Boris and Sergei Buchheit and Elizabeth and Caitlyn Dauscher. He also leaves his sister, Nancy (Henry) Stoken of Parma Hts. Ray was preceded in death by his parents.
You may have seen Ray strolling the sidewalks of Chardon, deep in thought, pipe in hand or strolling the paths of Best Pond with his beloved retrievers.
Memorial Service Saturday, April 21st, 2018 at Chardon United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Private family burial will be held. The family suggests donations to Chardon United Methodist Church 515 North St., Chardon, 44024, Blossom Hill Care Center, 12496 Princeton Rd., Huntsburg, 44046 or Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, 44110.
