Ralph A. Miller age 73 of Chardon for the past 46 years, was born April 12, 1938 in Brownstown, PA. He died November 22, 2011 from lung cancerMr. Miller was a Pennsylvania State Trooper and served as one of John F. Kennedy’s guards when he campaigned for the presidency in PA. He retired from Greyhound Lines as a driver. Ralph was a 1957 graduate of Bellmar High School in 1957 and was a quarterback and captain of the football team. He enlisted in the Marines, serving as a MP, stationed in Italy at the American Embassy. He also toured Europe as a quarterback on the Marine football team.A longtime member of the Northshore Boat Club, he enjoyed boating with his wife Phyllis (Hopkins) Miller of 46 years. He loved to fish and hunt with his four sons, Colonel Ralph (Andrea), Greg (Emily), Dean (Layla), and Mike (Natalie). He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Nick, Julia, Gabriel, Josie, Nina, Reece and his two brothers, Larry Marianne) and Kyle (Jamie) and two sisters, Pam (Danny) Lynch and Lili (Joey) Reoli.He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph L. and Hannah (Moody) Miller.Funeral Mass will be Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11:30AM at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon, Ohio. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (St. Rt. 44, 500′ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Inurnment will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Twp.
