We just wanted to convey what a wonderful man Own was. I can remember when we moved in next door he was just so welcoming, friendly, and down to earth. I was so relieved and comforted that he would be living near us. He was great to talk to and wonderful with our children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I was so sorry to hear of Owen's passing. In the years I worked with him at Alltel he was always upbeat, and had a joke or story to tell. I know he loved his family. Especially his children he spoke of you often. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Owen, I will always remember your sense of humor, your laughter (and your constant teasing me, which was just fine!) I will never forget the fun times we all had when Sandy and Duane were with us, our trip to Niagara Falls, the pumpkin patches, all the birthdays, Christmases....warm memories. All of you are resting with Jesus and walking those streets of gold and as I sit here with tears in my eyes, I know all of you are happy and rejoicing and that helps.. I remember how much fun you always had with the grandchildren, including mine.....will see you again some day....

Lamar on the way to disney world with my wife and kids April 21 I called to wish you happy birthday and you sounded so good and i was looking forward to seeing you in July for the family reunion then I hear of your sudden passing. What a reality check because we just never know when the Lord is ready to take us. Iam so glad you were a part of my life as my cousin. I want to thank you and Jane so much for being there for me two years ago at the passing of my mother. You were like a calm amongst the storm of my sorrow. Although my wife and girls did not know you long they loved you, for you was so kind and loving to them. Iam sure you are in a better place now with your parents and mine. One day when the Lord is ready I will hopefully be joining you again in that place that Jesus has prepared for us. For all the family members that are left behind you have my deepest sympathy. I wish I could have come to the funeral but due to timing and distance I wont be able to make it. I did send some flowers. To all the family and friends May God bless each and everyone of you and give you peace at this time of sorrow Love all of you Tony Redford

There are angels walking among men and I was fortunate enough to have met one. I will be forever changed from the shared knowledge, wisdom, and unconditional kindness you provided. Life will not be the same, but will go on with the wonderful memories that are left behind. Although capable of not putting up with nonsense, you were easily swayed by the giggles or hugs of little children on your lap. The game may have been on with a minute to go and that channel would switch to “Tom & Jerry” in seconds, just so he could see them smile and laugh. Watch over us and keep us safe! We will miss you and always keep you in our hearts.
Scott Redford left a message on May 3, 2012:
Dad,I don't even know where to begin to tell you how much I miss you. Waiting for my phone to ring to talk about when we were going to meet for lunch today. You are a wonderful father and you are my best friend. I have never in my life seen someone as giving and caring as you are. Your love for my son was unbelievable and it brings tears to my eyes evertime I see Jacob now. Although he doesn't know what has happened, I will guide him as you guided me. I will carry your spirit in me and try to be the man you were. For the many times I should have said I love you, I love you Dad! My heart aches from your absence but you will be with me forever.

Uncle Lamar you were an amazing Uncle and you are going to be greatly missed. It seems so unreal that you are no longer with us after just seeing and visiting with you a few months ago. I will always treasure the memories I have of you as I grew up and became an adult. I am comforted knowing without a shadow of doubt that you are with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in paradise. I love you and will miss you tremendously!

Uncle Lamar, I will miss you greatly, you were a fabulous uncle and a steadfast role model. I remember you driving us (Malia and I) around in the back of your car, with the whole family in the car. While we did our very best to aggravate you. Talk about a lesson in patience. I will love you forever and the lessons I learned from you about very much a simple phone call can mean. Thank you for all you did for keeping the family close, I know how much that meant to you. Renee' and Scott, You were blessed to have such a wonderful father, and to know him was to know what a blessing he knew each of you were to him, and your children. Jane, Thank you for all you did making Uncle Lamar happy and sharing each other lives. I am proud to call you my aunt. Love Always, Wendy, Tim, Brentley, Brian, and Ella Layne Weems
