Norman E. “Norm” Hines
Age 64 of Put in Bay, died peacefully at his home on Christmas morning. Born November 26, 1952 in Detroit, MI to Victor and Lilly (nee: Rogers) Hines, he grew up in Detroit, moved to Cleveland in 1977 and then to Put in Bay in 1990. Norm was the Co-Owner of the Leather Stallion Saloon in Cleveland for more than 30 years. He has been a board member of Lake Erie Islands Historical Society and served as its Secretary for 20 years. For several years, Norm volunteered for the Village of Put in Bay Mayors Court and processed local parking tickets. He was the founder and president of the Monday Night “Upscale” Wine Club that meets at the Put in Bay Winery, the “Buddy & Ruth Fan Club” that meets at the Crew’s Nest, and he acted as their photographer and historian. Norm had an infectious smile and a devilish whit. He will be missed by all of his friends. He is survived by his mother Lilly of Detroit and his partner of 40 years, Brian Molnar. He was preceded in death by his father and younger brother, Victor. A Celebration of Norm’s life will be held in the spring. Date, time and location will be posted at a later date.
