Nannette van Kan, Age 86, of Mayfield Hts., OH (formerly of Munson Twp.), died on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Hillcrest Hospital. She was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on July 4, 1931, to Hugh and Mary (Nee: Lawson) Meikle. Nannette married Oscar van Kan in New York City on July 20, 1954.
She was a member of the Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon and had worked for the former Conley’s Department Store in Chardon for many years. Baking shortbread, Scottish Music, her Scottish heritage, and spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends were some of her many joys in life.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice van Kan of Mayfield Hts., and Laura (Brian) Burwell of Newbury Twp., OH; grandchildren, Corey and Eric Hanish, Cody and Christina Burwell, and Tess van Kan; great grandson, Connor Straka. She was preceded in death by her husband, and son, Glenn.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 10, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. The Funeral Service will follow at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Fowlers Mill Cemetery in Munson Twp., OH.
