Michaelean “Mike” Pesek, Age 71 passed away Sept. 27, 2016 at her home after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born Sept. 8, 1945 in Steubenville, OH, she has been a longtime Geauga County resident and business woman. Michaelean married Martin Pesek in 1978. In 1986, they moved to Claridon Twp after she purchased the Reynolds Insurance Agency in Middlefield, OH. Over the years she purchased several other agencies and had multiple locations. She retired from the insurance business in 2006. Mike had many interests and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed golf, hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling, hiking and anything to do with the outdoors. She was an animal lover and loved her dog Mickey. She loved cooking for “Claridon Cares”, an organization in Claridon Twp. that provides free meals for those less fortunate. Rotary became a big part of her life when she joined Burton-Middlefield Rotary in 1992. She was the first woman member and went on to be the first woman President of BMR. She considered all the Rotary members to be part of her family. While in Rotary, she initiated many projects that were to benefit the veterans. She started an annual motorcycle run which gave 100% of their money to veterans and also several fundraisers that provided a substantial amount of money for the construction of the Geauga County Veterans’ Memorial. Mike was also the liaison for Womensafe, high school speech scholarship programs and the annual pancake breakfast held every Sunday in March at the Berkshire High School. These were but a few of her Rotary activities. Mike is survived by her husband of 38 years, Martin Pesek; stepdaughter Marty; granddaughters Jacqueline and Katherine; mother Susan Shultz and 2 sisters. Per Mike’s request, her ashes will be scattered among her flower islands and beds where she spent many tranquil hours tending to them.
