Mary Ann Babcock, 82, of Chardon and Ft. Myers Beach, Florida passed away Tuesday, June 12th at Geauga Community Hospital after a six-year, well fought battle with cancer. Born in Bowerston, Ohio, Mary Ann was a graduate of St. Mary’s of the Springs High School, Hiram College, and earned her Masters from Case Western Reserve University. Mary Ann taught sophomore English for twenty-five years at Berkshire High School. As a teacher, she was a student advocate, passionate wrestling fan and took many student trips to England with her best friend, Betty Button. Fond memories of Mary Ann will long be remembered by her loving husband of 63 years, Warren; daughter Cynthia (Charles) Richardson; son Edward (Constance) Babcock; grandchildren Laura (Kyle) Daniel, Andrea (Jeremy) Dusina, Clifford Babcock, Christina Babcock; and two great-grandchildren. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Edward and Isabel Miller, of Dennison, Ohio, and brother Edward Merritt Miller of Monroeville, Ohio. She loved the beach, the garden, had a passion for reading, and was an avid golfer – learning from Don Tincher and playing in women’s events at Chardon Lakes, Pebblebrook C.C. (now Berkshire Hills), as a charter member of Legend Lake G.C. and later at Cypress Lakes C.C. in Ft. Myers. Mary Ann and Warren were longtime attendees of Cleveland Playhouse, shared much joy and happiness with a myriad of wonderful friends, and had many adventures travelling to Egypt, India, Nepal, Greece, Russia, Indonesia, Singapore, all of Europe, and often to London and Scotland.Please, join the family to share fond remembrances of this vibrant woman’s life with friends and refreshments on Sunday, July 1st from three to five p.m. in the showroom of Junction Buick-GMC.
