Mark James Hess, Age 60 of Troy Twp. passed away May 30, 2017 at his home. Born March 12, 1957 in Cleveland to William and Phyllis (nee: Brown) Hess, he had been a lifelong area resident. Mark was a 1975 graduate of Berkshire High and 1979 graduate of Hiram College. He was a social studies teacher at West Geauga, Gilmore Academy and Padua Franciscan prior to starting Hess Pest Control; which is now operated by his son Bill. Mark married Janet Thornburg on April 3, 1993 at Burton Congregational Church. Survivors include his wife Janet of Troy Twp; sons John of Kent and William “Bill” of Troy Twp; brother William H. (Wendy) Hess II of Florida; sisters Martha (Curt) Huffman of Auburn Twp and Ann (Ron) O’Dell of Bristolville; many extended family and his four-legged companion Dave the Dog. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH.
