Wednesdays at the salon just aren't the same without Lorna. She always had a story to tell or a situation we could laugh about that would perk up my day. Her matter of fact attitude about so many things made for a strong, down-to-earth friend who will be missed forevermore! I'm very happy she was in my life for 25 years. Many condolences to her family and friends~Rest in peace, Lorna~God bless!

I am glad that Lorna had the opportunity to know my aussies, and know the quality of her and Sue's decades of work with their aussies, was/is continuing. and will continue. I felt that to share a little of "Lorna and I" might show the tremendous and continuing impact she has had on my own life, my sons' lives and the lives of many people who know Lorna, through me. All of us are thankful to have been a part of her life. All of us share in your loss at this time. I extend my deepest thoughts to Lorna's family and relatives and friends.RobinRobin de Villiers ROBIN Australian ShepherdsRegistered/ Licensed Kennelhttp://www.csolve.net/~robinRR#1, Coldwater, Ontario Canada L0K 1E0robin.devilliers@eastlink.ca

Ally herself came to be through Lorna's direct assistance. In 1997, I had taken Dots down to Lorna and Ed's as Dots was due to be bred to Beau by surgical implant/ frozen semen at "Hutch's". Lorna did all the running back and forth for the pre-testing at the vet's, and for the insemination as I was back up home in Canada. When I drove down to pick up Dots, I was a bit startled at the seriousness of the implant incision. While I thought I hid my reaction well, Lorna instantly assured me that Dots had NOT been spayed! She had read my mind. Lorna explained that she had witnessed the surgery and insemination proceedure. In her facination of such things, I was glad to provide her with such opportunity, and relieved to know there was no chance Dots had been spayed. From that insemination in 1997, the incredible Ally and Gunner, as well as Echo Babo and Gemma, arrived and set my course in life and with Lorna.

This pup though, was an exceptionally well-structured and beautiful moving pup. Lorna said, "That pup is MY pick of the litter- he is the soundest moving pup -and dogs dont work and move on their HEADS!."Point take and the absolute truth. Since then, I have not once considered keeping a pup of 'head type' over a structurally sounder pupNot only did that pup (MarkOh) became a Champion with ease, not only did he achieve high recognition at the ASCA National Specialty, he sired one of THE very best litters I have ever had. MarkOh was bred to Ally for an all black litter. The resulting 6 puppies were cookie-cutters of each other and where the most exceptional pups in every single way. It was challenging to decide which ones to keep! In the end decision we kept Polo and Niomi who have gone on to produce that outstanding quality that represents the Brightwood and Sugarbush Aussies, that now with honour, carry my own kennel name.

In 1995, I met Sue Francisco Leibitzke and Dave Leibitzke/ "Brightwood Aussies" when Sue was Judging our Aussie Show in Ontario, Canada. Since that first meeting, I became unified with Ohio and have always wished I could push Ontario alongside Ohio. When Sue became ill, she instructed me to work directly with Lorna, as if Lorna was Sue. Lorna and Ed took me into their fold, into friendship and into their aussie-family, quickly evolving into a solid and constant part of my life- in spite of the geographical distance. Lorna shared her knowledge, wisdom and life-instruction with clarity and no extra words. In that, her phrases are capules of advise that frequently come to thought, are easy to remember and will never be forgotten. I recall her response to my asking her opionion of a litter of pups born in 1998, sired by her Ty, a Beau x Rita son.I was hesitant to keep a pup for show/breeding as his head shape was less preferred than his littermates.

A Farewell to my dearest friend, Lorna, my mentor in life, my mentor in dogs. Lorna lived straight from her heart, true to her word and strong on her feet: unwaivering. She shared with me her aussies and guided me with her direct honesty and innate intuative sense of animals. What she has taught and shared with me, and thus I have been able to share with others, is a living gift that no money could ever buy. Even in her leaving, she will always be near me and so many others, who have been fortunate to be touched by her and her legacy of her aussies. I would like to attach a historic photo of Lorna's "Rita", ASCA/AKC Champion Sugarbush's Little Bit of Class. Lorna, like her brilliant aussie Rita, will always be the meaning of Sugarbush: a Whole Lot Of Class. Rest well my dearest friend. You will be deeply missed, but you will always be in my heart, in my thoughts and by my side.Robin

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Lorna, I have heard many wonderful things about her from a friend we had in common. I hope that you, her family, will accept my most heartfelt condolences. Tess DowneyKokopelli Australian ShepherdsBaltimore, OntarioCanada
