Joe grew up on the same block in Philadelphia as my husband, Ed They were friends their entire lives. They had many adventures together growing up and Ed has fond memories of going to Joe's house and listening to classical music on Joe's record player. That inspired my husband's lifelong love of that music and he introduced it to me. We will never forget Joe. He was a brilliant and wonderful man.

I'm so sorry to hear the sad news. I have known Joe since I was born. He kept my brother company while my mother was upstairs in our apartment giving birth to me. He did so much wonderful work on our family's genealogy, and I enjoyed our correspondence regarding it. He will be missed.Love, Sarae

My Grandfather was a great and proud man. I thank you all for the kind words and memories. He will forever live on in me, he introduced me to so much in my life, my love for science, reading, talk radio, triva and family history. I may have taken a long time to sink in but I like to belive he imparted some very good values in me and the way I raise my family. He is greatly missed, and always loved. 1001001. ~Amy Lynn.

To the Berninger Clan: And yes, with your Scottish roots, you can lay claim to the title "Clan;" for that's what you have become. And, your husband/dad/grandfather/great-grandfather was very proud of how two had become head of such a large family, and he lived to see it. I have so many precious memories of times spent with most of you. Distance did not keep us from becoming part of each other's lives. The welcome we felt each time we came to Ohio was always open and loving. I so regret that distance now keeps me from being with you to share personally in your great loss. Please be assured of my love, my thoughts, and my prayers for the gift of God's peace. With my love and hugs for you all,Pat/Aunt Pat

Above all else, Joe Berninger was a devoted husband and father. His dear wife Jean, and his ever growing family were a source of love and pride. He extended that sense of family to all of us who were his wife Jean's relations. He shared in our joys and in our sorrows. He showed pride in our accomplishments. He gladly opened his door and welcomed us each time we came to visit. Joe was an exceptional son-in-law to Jean's mother Marguerite. In the last days of her life, he helped to care for her in his home, carrying out her wishes to never be sent to a nursing home. The Glass family was, and is so grateful for his generous heart. I continue to hope that somehow I will make one more trip to Ohio. But it will not be the same. Joe's chair will be empty. Thank you Joe for always making me feel so welcome and at home. Pat

Joe was an amazing person on the Trivia Net in the mornings. I had not had the opportunity to meet him in person, but his knowledge in the questions each morning was quite impressive. It is amazing how our voices alone can touch others on the airwaves, which he has done. He will be missed!
