John J. Naymick Sr, age 87 of Newbury passed away May 9, 2017 at UH Geauga surrounded by his family. Born Feb. 21, 1930 in Somerset Twp, PA to Andrew and Josephine (nee: Rollinger) Naymick, he had been a longtime Newbury Twp. resident. John served in the US Army as a Paratrooper from 1951 – 1953, and while on leave, married Joann Yoder in Friedens, PA on April 21, 1952. He worked as a supervisor and retired from Superior Die Casting. After retirement, John volunteered at Geauga Hospital transporting patients throughout the hospital. He also worked for Preston in Burton couriering cars for over 15 years. John enjoyed being outside; gardening, watching birds and sitting in the sun. He enjoyed bowling and traveling, visiting all 50 states and international locations. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Joann of Newbury; children John (Donna) Naymick Jr of Cypress, TX, Edward (Diana) of Perry and Diane (Daniel) McArdle of Burton; grandchildren Stephen, Valerie, Jerad, Lynn, Yolonda and Laura; great-grandchildren Jayce, Milo, Madison and Robert; siblings Elizabeth “Sue” (Robert) Ogline of Somerset, PA and Robert Naymick of Rome, NY and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Andrew and Harry Naymick and Dorothy Lowe. Visitation will be from 11am till 1pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday following the visitation at the funeral home.
