Jeanne Louise Dewalt Wenzel age 91, of Chardon, Died September 1, 2014 surrounded by her loving family, in Concord Twp. Born March 20, 1923 in Mentor, Jeanne lived in Chardon for 70 years. She was the Chief Deputy Clerk of Courts for Geauga County for 50 years, retiring in 1991. Jeanne was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan, she enjoyed bowling and animals. She was a member of Former Ruby Chapter Eastern Star, Chardon, and an active volunteer for the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department “R U OK” program. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jeanne was spunky and had a wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her daughter Blythe J. (Leo Elersic) Wenzel of Munson Twp., son Douglas H. (Jane) Wenzel of Chardon, 2 Grandchildren: Melisa DeMell of Concord Twp., Heath Wenzel of Chardon, 2 Great-grandchildren: Katie and Timmy DeMell, Step-grandson: Michael J. Elersic of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Edward J. Wenzel, whom she married May 12, 1946, April 21, 2008. She also was preceded by her parents, Ralph and Luella (nee: Ryder) Dewalt and siblings Beatrice Reed and Clement Dewalt. Private family burial was held in Larned Cemetery, Chardon Twp. Arrangements handled by the Burr Funeral Home, Chardon.
