Jeanne Elizabeth (Tebbe) Bidgood
Age 101, went home to the Lord on October 19, at Geauga Medical Center. She was born in Plymouth, Ohio on October 13, 1916, and moved to Cleveland when she was nine. Jeanne graduated from Shaw High School in 1934, attended the East Cleveland School of Business and worked at the Weathertite Company in downtown Cleveland. She married Paul Wilfred Bidgood in East Cleveland on January 1, 1937.
After her husband’s service in World War II, the family moved to Chardon, where she devoted herself to home and family. In 1958, she went to work for Charles Hall Insurance in Chardon and later the Bass Lake Community, Inc. for 24 years until her retirement in 1984. Paul and Jeanne moved to a second home in Lakeside, Ohio, where they lived until their return to Chardon in 1987.
Jeanne was a member of Chardon United Methodist Church for more than 68 years and was active in Deborah Circle. She was a member of Chardon Kiwanis, Order of the Eastern Star and Progress Research Club. She volunteered at the Chardon Municipal Court for more than 13 years. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, home decorating and collecting antiques.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Beverly (Frank) Zammataro of Streetsboro, Paulette (Kenneth) Loofboro of Unionville, Steve (Judy) Bidgood of Chardon; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul of 63 years, and her sister, Helen Helser. Jeanne’s family gratefully acknowledges the loving care provided by Dr. Bradley Moritz, devoted caregiver Jan Bertliff, and The Residence of Chardon.
Burr Funeral Home in Chardon is handling arrangements. A private family celebration of life was held, with interment at Whitehaven Cemetery. The family suggests donations to Chardon United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 515 North Street, Chardon, 44024.
