Jane Wilson Sanborn, 79, of Chardon passed away Monday, January 9th 2012, surrounded by family. Born August 17th, 1932, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Marian Coy Smith and Wilson Woodberry Smith. Jane was a lifelong resident of Chardon and was a dedicated member of the community, volunteering her time with the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Girl Scouts, Laurel School, Phillips-Osborne School and Chardon Local Schools. She attended Laurel School and Mount Vernon College in Washington D.C., returning to Chardon upon graduation where she worked for Dr. Walter Corey. Married for 59 years, Jane is survived by her husband, P. Donald Sanborn, her sons Corey of Chardon Twp. and Mitch (Beth) of Gates Mills, her daughter Kim (Phil Phillips) of Chapel Hill, NC, her adorable grandchildren Sarah, Will, Allison and Julie Sanborn, and Emily, Henry and Martha Glenn, her brother Woody (Marilou) Smith of Chardon. She also leaves her step-grandchildren Jordan Phillips and Courtney Phillips (Bill) Hyder, of Charlotte, NC and three step great-grandchildren: Ellie, Maggie and Lil Hyder. Jane’s grandchildren were the light of her life, and she will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed reading, cooking, needlework, travelling and spending time with friends aboard the “Kimberly Jane” at The Mentor Harbor Yachting Club. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 11:30 AM at the Mentor Harbor Yachting Club, 5330 Coronada Deive, Mentor on the Lake, OH.
