James E. Poole, Age 85 of Newbury Twp., died July 22, 2017 at Blossom Hill Care Center, Huntsburg Twp. Born January 28, 1932 in Bristol, CT to Augustus C. and Bessie B. (nee: Miskis) Poole. He has been in the area since the 1950’s. He was a Salesman of Construction Equipment in the Logging Industry for 45 years. His favorite pastime was repairing antique outboard motors, antique tractors and fishing in Canada. He also enjoyed scuba diving and lapidary.

He is survived by his children Thomas (Cindy) Poole of Huntsburg Twp. and Cindy (Frank) Goldman of Athol, MA and grandchildren Trisha Poole, Christopher Goldman, Angela Poole, Gregory Goldman and Victoria Poole and greatgrandchildren Logan, Hailey, James and Teagan. He also leaves his sisters Elaine (Mick) Waterfield of Sandusky and Mary Jane (Terry) Flannigan of Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy (nee: Richards) Poole, whom he married in 1954 in Chagrin Falls, died in 2013, and his brother, Vincent Poole.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 27. The gathering will conclude with the US Navy presentation of the Colors at 8:00 PM at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon. The family suggest donations to Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Road, Novelty, OH 44072.

He will be missed. Proud to have had him in our wedding party.

Although I have not seen my Uncle Jim in many years due to long distance, I have many fond summer time memories being at his place as a child. At 5-6 years old he let me cut his grass and drive the lawn tractor myself as my folks Terry & Mary Jane looked on nervously ! Raccoons and kittens in the garage, playing by the pond, all great memories that will last forever! We know you have moved on to a better place, love ya Uncle Jim!! Phil Flannigan

The Lauer family sends our condolences. We first met Jim at the Burton Antique Engine show in 1998 when he came up to our son's tractor and struck up a friendship. Jim became a great friend and through his enthusiasm for antique machinery (tractors, outboards, etc.) and his enthusiasm for Canada has changed our lives.

I'm sorry to hear that my Uncle Jim Poole passed, and went home to be present with the LORD this week. He will be greatly missed; because he was greatly loved. My heartfelt condolences to his family & friends as you grieve the loss of Uncle Jim in your lives on this earth. I hold you up in prayer. I also rejoice with you as imagine him now in heaven enjoying eternal life, where you will see him again someday. Grandpa Poole was an awesome gentleman to know. Many good stories. Lots of wisdom. He will be missed by many.

so sorry to hear we had alot of awesome time together at the house with Jim and Dorothy and out boys fishing at the lake
