Rev. Hugh Brownlee, 83, of Burton, was a Geauga County resident for 12 years, previously living in Punta Gorda, FL and formerly of Chardon. He died September 4, 2011 at Blossom Hil Care Center, Huntsburg Twp., after a brief illness. He was an Episcopal Clergyman, retiring as Interim Dean from Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland. Rev. Brownlee has also served as Rector of St. Luke Episcopal Church in Chardon, Church of the Advent in Westlake, and Christ Church in Dayton and as the assistant to the Bishop of the Diocese of Ohio. He was a proud Veteran of US Army Air Corps during WWII. Rev. Brownlee was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church. Prior to his religious training at Bexley Hall Seminary at Kenyon College, he had served as vice president of Brownlee Chevrolet, Inc., in Lakewood. He enjoyed boating, traveling, and historical novels. His favorite activity was spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Donna (nee: Wright) Brownlee, whom he married in Ashtabula, on October 4, 1952, of Burton Village; 3 Sons Ross (Donna) of Gloucester Point, VA, Alex (Elena) of Statham, GA and Christopher (Deborah) of Troy Twp.; 6 Grandchildren: Eric and Andrew, Emily and Micah and Rebecca and Samantha. His parents Ivan and Mabel (Nee: Upton) Brownlee, son Marc and sister Almeida Evans are deceased. A Memorial service will be Thursday, September 8, 10:00 AM at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon, OH 44024. Officiating will be presiding Bishop The Rt. Rev. Mark Hollingsworth of Ohio and The Rev. Chris McCann of St. Luke. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service. Burial will be in the Columbarium of St. Luke Episcopal Church. The family suggests donations be made to St. Luke Eposcipal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon, OH, 44024.
