Gregory Holowaty, 62, of North Perry, passed away March 4, 2012, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.Born Oct. 9, 1949, in Painesville, he had lived in Hambden Township before moving to North Perry in 1968.Greg worked as an assembler/laborer at the former Chardon Rubber Company. He also had worked as a mechanic.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam during the war. He was also a graduate of Chardon High School, Class of 1967, and enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing and boating.Survivors are his parents, George and Bertha (nee Meyers) Holowaty of North Perry; sister, Elaine Hurt of Painesville; brother, Terry “Toby” (Paula) of League City, Texas; one nephew, Adam (Danielle) Hurt; and one niece, Nicole (Scott) Nixdorf.A celebration of life service will be held noon Saturday, March 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Painesville, 10801 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Painesville, OH 44077.Pastor Beverly J. Keyse of the church will officiate.Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon, and following the service at the church.
