Eugene H. Wertman, 85, of Ravenna, passed away at Emeritus of Ravenna Assisted Living. Born Jan. 11, 1926, in Williamsport, Pa., he was a former resident of Huntsburg Township and South Euclid. He had lived in Ravenna since 2005. He married Ann Conway in Connecticut in 1946. He then married June C. Pennington in Cleveland on July 18, 1969, and they both preceded him in death. Eugene served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He liked to golf, bowl and do artwork. Eugene was employed by TRW in Euclid for over 30 years until his retirement. Survivors are his children, Eugene, Sarah, Denise, Mark, Peggy, Betty, Annie, Laurie, Patty, Matthew, Larry, Darlene, Jerry, and Timmy; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Wertman; and sister, Beverly Lawson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles V. and Mable (Grahm) Wertman; grandchildren, Jennifer, Little Larry, and Ethan; and brothers, Charles and Arthur. Graveside service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the Huntsburg Township Cemetery, located at the southwest corner of Route 528 and Route 322, Huntsburg. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (State Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
